the week's U.S. shooting

Well, it's early; just Monday. More could happen, of course. But I always expect at least one per week anymore (aside from ongoing gang violence, which I don't think will ever end no matter what gun laws are). But today's was in a courthouse in Delaware (read it here).
Now, I'm confused about something - the people who absolutely oppose any further regulation on any weapons, even if it's just background checks and assault bans, tell us there won't be shootings in public buildings (and I'd say a courthouse is as public as a school, both are taxpayer supported) when there are armed guards there to prevent it. You know, the only thing that can stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun, and all that guff. Yet, I'm pretty sure courthouses generally have armed officials on staff - in fact, the story mentioned officers who were hit, but wearing bulletproof vests. And these officials are, by and large, supposed to be "good guys."
So ... how did this happen? I'm mystified.

Date: 2013-02-12 06:56 pm (UTC)My Almost Little sister... (we almost raised her and her little Brother) was just in an abusive relationship. She finally realized she should leave him when He beat her so badly she got staples in her head. This was a woman who vowed to all of us that she would never marry a "Wife Beater"... She almost didn't because she "loved him and was sure she could get him to never do it again." Mom finally convinced her to leave him.
I don't think anybody knows what it is like until they are in it. My biological father was a "wife beater" and beat my mom up. I will not tolerate spouse beating at all.
The thing a about the second amendment is that it was written when we as a country did not have a standing army. Now that we have one, we should regulate who, how, and what guns should be purchased. My father owns guns yes, but I don't like them nor will I ever use one.

It's convenient to become a legal scholar when it suits your purposes, then shit all over it when it stops you from what you want.)

Maybe a ten round clip, but not a 100 round one. It's the "toothless wonders", the insane gun show attendees, and the hardcore NRA members bitching about this. They need to learn read past 2. :-)
