After 80-some-odd days and the murder of her translator, American journalist Jill Carroll was released by her Iraqi captors, apparently sometime overnight (Eastern Time). This is my wonderful news of the morning.

However, I'm not normally up this early to even *see* the news. And while this news was good enough to chase *some* of the bad juju from my brain, it's too recently imprinted (meaning I just woke up) to flee entirely.

My imagination is apparently quite active - when I have a bad dream, especially about death and destruction, it's usually what I like to call "Tim Burton dreams," meaning there's some clearly-envisioned grotesquerie about it that's so bizarre and just enough *off* that it's not going to happen. But have you ever had a dream about someone's death that is so horrific because of its clarity, like you've watched it happen - in other words, because it's something that could very likely happen? (And, on an even worse note, would actually be a fitting demise for that person? I don't mean that in a good way and I do not want this person to die. No, it's not a politician. Yes, it is someone well-known.)

I'm not going to set the specifics down on paper. Not because I'm thinking it'll actually happen, but ... well, yeah, because it could actually happen, and I'm *just* superstitious enough that if I don't tell a bunch of people, maybe the actual event will be kept at bay. I know as well as the next person that death dreams are only representative of other stuff going on in one's life. But it was still frightening.

One of my good friends had a dream that I died and IMed me in distress once. Now, that sucked. :P I was watching my back all day.

I don't think I could do that to someone. I'd just keep my mouth shut and hope they stayed OK, then tell them after a reasonable time had passed, perhaps.

But THIS - this is like playing "Final Destination: Celebrity Edition," I swear to pete.

Hmm, we have not had an unexpected death recently of a well known celebrity. I'm thinking of John Ritter, when I say unexpected death. Would it be that type of shock if this person you dreamt of died? I don't know anyone who grew up with Three's Company who wasn't saddened and shocked that he died the way he did.

Trust me, this would be unexpected. (If you're on IM sometime, I'll tell you the dream itself.)

I'm staying away from IM tonight, both Yahoo and AIM. I may be on tomorrow, and I'm rather curious myself.
