Re-tire-ment? What is this of which you speak? I'm afraid I'm not familiar ... Wait, isn't that something non-1-percenters used to get to do?

I keep forgetting to ask you this, Where do you find these? They used to be on my front page but vanished a few months ago and I now can only find them when you post them here.

They keep pushing the statutory retirement age back here. I'd have to work until 68 before getting the state pension. Doubt I'll have enough to retire early on from occupational pension! Of course, now I'm a writer, I'll never retire! They'll have to bury me with a pen in my gnarled and arthritic hand!

Oh my goodness. I'll be working till I'm 70. I read an interesting thing about 401K - they said you should live off your 401K or whatever retirement savings you have when you can start drawing it without penalty until you reach the maximum social Security age, which I think is 70 instead of taking early retirement at 62 or even 65. The math worked, but why not just keep working? Your SS benefit increases every year as long as you're working. The problem is that the dollar won't be worth what it is now in 23 years when I reach 70 so you have to max out your SS even if you have savings.

Well, if you look at my friends list you can find them and you can join the community that way, I think.

The previous exec. editor for my newspaper died of a heart attack in his office. I figure I'll die of some ailment at my desk at whatever publication I'm working for at the time.
Hell, the last Social Security statement I got had a bright red stamping at the top that said unless I become disabled I will never receive Social Security benefits because the system will be bankrupt before I become eligible. Not kidding.
