My early teenage years would not have been the same if it weren't for Dick Clark. Every Saturday I watched American Bandstand at a time when music was changing, late '70s/early '80s, yet again. He was always upbeat, never judgmental of the acts he hosted and always a gentleman. His kind are sorely missed now.
He's one of those few celebrities that a few generations are all happily familiar with for about the same reason, sort of like Betty White or even Bob Hope. *nod*
