Especially for [livejournal.com profile] tesan

"The X-Files" premiered 15 years ago on this date. I had just started my senior year of college, and a friend harangued me into watching it.

Do you remember what you were doing on this exact day 15 years ago? I know [livejournal.com profile] tesan can. ;-)

Speaking of which, if you like Nick shows or their little original movies, you might want to read her review of "Gym Teacher" starring Chris Meloni, Amy Sedaris, and Richard Alan Grier, which airs this Friday. It's the latest thing on her LJ.

Haha. Uh.

Do you remember what you were doing on this exact day 15 years ago?

You really want me to answer that?

I was probably getting ready for the start of my fifth grade year since I was 10. How precious! (I didn't start watching X-Files hardcore till the end of S2)

I was at home, preparing to watch Xfiles, since every single one of my friends was doing the same thing. It was the *thing* to do, and I figured I'd better watch it since everyone would be discussing it at school.

I was a few weeks into 6th grade. I'm not sure how to feel about that....wow.

I was five, so I probably would have just officially started school back in England.

Happy Anniversary X-Files and X-Philes

I watched the premiere episode of Brisco County Jr. and THEN the X-Files. They first ran on Friday nights. Poor Brisco only lasted a season and a half maybe.

As a youngster I was always scared by alien abductions stories. There was a show in the early '80s called That's Incredible. They had bizarro things on there like spontaneous combustion and cattle mutilations, so I think that's what made me think aliens were scary. That and War of The Worlds. Creeped me out to no end.

So for me to WANT to watch a show that was based on alien abductions , it had to be have been very very intriguing to me at the time.

Very glad I bucked it up and watched that premiere 'cause I can say I've been a fan since day one of one of the best TV shows ever done in over 50 years of TV, among all genres. There will never be another show like it and no other characters as alienated as Mulder [pun intended] and as stalwart as Scully.

And yes, the recent movie made me cry.
