Link courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] benkenobigal - a two-question quiz that seems pretty darn accurate, at least for her and for me. (Those are my results. Yes? No? Maybe?)

Take it yourself to find out. You don't have to sign up for anything or create any accounts.

ETA: That cartoon at the top of the page, with the chainsaw - when I was in high school, I used to ask my parents for Christmas gifts that I could use in college. One year I asked for a VCR; the next I asked for a typewriter. I think another year I asked for bedsheets and dishes. LOL

ETA2: My sister tested an 8, as well. I'm not really sure either of our parents would fit that category, though ...

Your results sound fairly accurate to me. *g* (I came up with a 'four.' I'm betting you're surrounded by them. :-p)

Yes, I'm wimping out again. :/

OK, I give. There are three other 4s so far. Why do I have so many 4s around? :-)

Add this 4 to the mix.

You're defined as a leader type: you are "Confident and strong"; you "Stand up for yourself"; Yadda, yadda. While, as a four, I have "strong feelings about things" and "I don't want people telling me what to do" but "it's generally unusual for me to assert myself all that forcefully."

I'm an Individualist dammit!. *snerk* But it makes sense, looking at my definition, that I would seek out others who might agree VERY LOUDLY with me. (So, It also makes sense that I'm not the only Individualist here. :-p And some of them have been on my flist for a while - I've seen similarities.

Those things are pretty cool, in the 'cold reading' sense. This particular test is one of my favorites! (Did you ever see Derren Brown's cold reading experiment (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=btP_vy5cQq4)? - I'm almost certain I showed you but maybe not.)

I always like taking tests like that, lol. Seems generally pretty accurate to me. :) I got a four as well.

I came up 9, which is what I come up with on longer Enneagram tests, and is also scarily accurate. :D

I was a Seven, as I always am.

Just an aside...

I wrote a long in-depth analysis of CotBP back in 2004 looking at the main characters based on the Enneagram and two other personality indicators (Myers-Briggs and Oldham). The characters I chose to look at were Jack, Will, Elizabeth, Barbossa and Norrington.

I never posted it anywhere, mostly due to it's length, but it was an interesting exercise.

If you still have it, I can think of two places it would be *great* to post it: [livejournal.com profile] potc_discussion (we always need new ideas) and [livejournal.com profile] potc_debate.

Well, it is long. I mean LONG. But, I will see what I can do.

If you are interested in that sort of stuff though, you might want to know that I found the characters to be the following types:

Jack Sparrow – Type Seven wing 8 (Enneagram); Adventurer / ESTP (Keirsey’s Myers-Briggs type); Adventurous (Oldham’s P-Type).

Will Turner - Type Six Counterphobic wing 5 (Enneagram); Protector / ISFJ (Keirsey’s Myers-Briggs type); Vigilant (Oldham’s P-Type).

Commodore Norrington - Type One (Enneagram); Enforcer / ESTJ (Keirsey’s Myers-Briggs type); Conscientious (Oldham’s P-Type).

Two other characters are variants of the first type

Elizabeth Swann – Type Seven wing 6 (Enneagram); Champion / ENFP (Keirsey’s Myers-Briggs type); Mercurial (Oldham’s P-Type).

Barbossa – Type Seven (Enneagram); Adventurer / ESTP (Keirsey’s Myers-Briggs type); Antisocial (Oldham’s P-Type).

(can you tell I am a researcher by trade?)

Well, now you're going to have to post the whole thing, because I have no idea what the hell all that means, besides about five adjectives. LOL ...

I wish I knew photoshop and adobe. A friend of mine had begun to turn the essay into a stunning visual work of art, but alas, it is only the first 13 pages (they are in .pdf format and I haven't a clue how to transfer them to a website)...

Now, we have drifted apart and I have a very unfinished project. If you really are interested in reading it though, I could email it to you.

Sure, send it over. I may have to do it over a few days, since this is a heavy production week at the paper, but I can do that. The email is verthefirst at yahoo dot com

Will Turner - Type Six Counterphobic

Could you crank the "interesting"- factor up a notch? I'm only barely dying here.

I personally would also be fascinated to see how you came up with these categories. IF you have anything in written form I would love to see it.

Be careful what you wish for...LOL

I have a LONG essay explaining this. If you really wish to read it I can email it to you, just need an address. I am an amateur, so this is of course my interpretation of the characters. And I wrote this before the sequels, so it only encompasses CotBP.

I'm a Six. The Questioner and the Loyalist aka The Wobbly Brained *g*
The test pretty much nailed it.

Your results seem pretty accurate to me, as much as it's worth with making such assessment only by your LJ posts...

It says I'm a six. Not sure that fits me, but then I dithered a lot over which option to pick on the first question. None of them really fit, which is pretty much SOP on this sort of "quiz".

I'm an 8. I didn't exactly have to think much about my answers either. Represent!!

I'm not really an expert in personality test for sane people, unfortunately.
I know a bit about the Myers-Briggs, but that's it. I have a hard time testing characters, since I think you really need to be an expert in analyzing the test to do that.
