Superbitch at your service
Apr. 6th, 2007 10:55 pmHoly cow, did I have to pull The Bitch out of hiding today against the cable company. (You guys just think I'm a bitch on here. This is what I call fairly casual bitch for me, on LJ.) My Internet service went out last night, flickering (as in, only working intermittently), and the phone (which is hooked into it) wouldn't get a dial tone, and on top of that, the cable TV channel guide's been a bitch the last week or so - in other words, it doesn't all work just really well. AND I've only had this service a month.
I called this morning for help. Was told a technician would be by today. Not being able to stay home and wait on anyone, I asked that they call (actually, they offered to do it) ahead of time and I'd call a neighbor to come over to accompany them in, since they need a person here. Was also reassured if nobody came today, the technicians work 7 days a week and could come over the weekend. Fantastic.
Never heard a thing. I called back 2-3 times during the day to politely inquire if someone would be able to get by today. Was told each time yes, of course, even if it was evening. The last time I called was 5 p.m. - same answer. I got home and there was a note on the door that someone had come by at noon, nobody was here, so they left and would come back another day. When I called to check on it, nobody was at the local office and I was transferred to a Kentucky office to some poor nice lady who informed me according to her computer log, they called, got a "No Longer In Service" on my cell phone (SO not true), and would be back perhaps on Monday.
OH NO THEY DIDN'T!!
I EXPLODED. I am not proud of this. The entire time I was ranting and threatening to stop payment on April's service check before it got to their office - and switch to their comepetitor - I told the woman it wasn't her doing, that I knew that, and that I would be just pleased as punch if she would convey all this ire to the local office and get it off of her. (No, I didn't yell. I don't scream. I can get right pissy, but I don't scream.) I was adamant that what angered me was the casual dismissal of their policy of notification and how *I* was going to have to wait because of THEIR error.
Well, whaddya know? Not 5 minutes after I hung up, I got a call from the technician, who said he'd be by tomorrow morning. Miracles do happen.
(I am not a fan of harassing customer service people. Unfortunately, at 7 p.m. on a Friday, they're the only ones you can reach and hear bad news from, and they are the conduit between you and Big Company. And I so loathe being screwed over. I've heard forever how horrid cable companies are, and that is the only reason I decided to be Superbitch - usually the first time I'm quite accommodating, but I figure an industry that has earned this kind of reputation won't respond to candy hearts and hugs.)
