PRETTY ORLANDO! You know you want to click on it. Go ahead. (I love the outfit; I really do. And the return of the *proper* balance of facial hair instead of the pornstache. But for some reason, if I didn't know this guy and someone told me he had kids, I'd believe them; he just has that "dad" look about his face for some reason. Maybe it's simply age ...)
And in the spirit of thinking about pretty things, I found this on YouTube the other day - the video for "Bad Touch" by the Bloodhound Gang. (You know, the "Discovery Channel" song)
(I like the little-person actor in this one. He's been on a few other things, including "Mind of Mencia" and I think he's the "Jackass" actor, too, but I've never watched it; I've only seen promos.)
Well, finding that video put me in mind of another song my sister like to sing along to while driving - "Barbie Girl" by Aqua. ("I'm a Barbie Girl/In a Barbie world/Life in plastic/Is fantastic ...")
And, apparently, I need to spend some time looking at all of Aqua's videos on YouTube, 'cause I didn't realize their other songs were so good, as well as entertaining videos like "Dr. Jones" (yep, a love-song riff on "Indiana Jones"):
And then, there's "Lollipop":
Finally ... let's go back in time to high school (well, at least when I was there. Salt-n-Pepa:
I remember our principal HATED when this was played at school dances, along with "I Want Your Sex" by George Michael (you young'uns have to understand that in 1987, THIS was risque stuff to play in public, let alone at a school dance).
Which led me by association to ANOTHER "Push It" song I love and hadn't heard in a while, by Garbage:
For fannish purposes, I sort of like this as the Angry! Will Turner song.
Then there's White Town with "Your Woman."
a_silver_rose can attest to how much I love this song (the scary thing is, I've listened to it enough times that I think I actually *get* it). The video's great too, especially the whole Margot Kidder-thing going on with the main woman:
You gotta love video as art. Thank you, Michael Jackson.
I'm thinking I may have to buy an Aqua CD today ...
I also have a request, with such a diverse f-list, maybe SOMEBODY has this song they could send me (and if you want one, I can look and see if I have it): It came out in the late 80s or early 90s, and it was by an artist/group named Goddess. I think the title was "Let's Get Sexual" - it definitely repeated that line throughout. Part of it was "spoken" and had references to all these couples in history, aggressive women and the men who adored them. I have looked for this song for YEARS and cannot find it anywhere.
