I think if a drug is proven to have more problems than benefits, I can see why a manufacturer would want to remove it from the market - it's going to cost more in losses than it'll make in profits. But from the consumer's POV, I've heard a lot of people complain about losing their Vioxx, including my grandmother, who didn't seem to suffer any ill effects from its usage.
