Alleged release date

The alleged release date for the director's cut of "Kingdom of Heaven" is May 23, 2006. It's already up at Amazon with a discount pre-order:

Anyone have other news?

I ask that with every special edition anything that comes out, even if it's something I liked, and unless it's a special case, I pass it over. In this case, however, the reviews of the longer version (which aired not only to screening audiences prior to the trimmed movie's release last May, but also not too long ago in a couple of selected theaters in the Los Angeles area) indicate not only do you get more background on some of the history behind the events in the movie, you gain entire characters in some instances (such as the queen's young son, who died before he could ascend the throne and playing a BIG part of history as a result). There are those who weren't wild about the edited version who saw the longer one and thought it was grand cinema because of what it *did* restore.

As for spending extra, I knew there was a director's cut coming before I ever bought the edited DVD version, and I still bought it purposefully. I prefer to have both, because I have a feeling they'll be somewhat different movies.
