Oh gods, people like that infuriate me. "You're so lucky compared to people in the third world.." I know exactly how lucky I am. I try to ruminate on how lucky I am -- I have my M.A. I've got a good part-time job that pays a decent enough wage that (most of the time) it makes up for only being a part-time job. I have a wonderful family and group of friends that I love. I dwell on these things so that I DON'T dwell on the things I *don't have*: full-time work, medical insurance, dental insurance, a retirement package, a guaranteed future.

And the fact that it was a *newspaper* cartoonist drawing that... I can't even articulate the outrage beyond a simple "fuck you, buddy." They're lucky to have the job they've got when so many city papers still have hiring freezes.
