You know, I get that animals can't pay for their own care or fix themselves. I do have a certain level of responsibility for having them as pets, and because I like to see them content and safe. On the other hand, Sylvester was born to a feral cat and Frank was an adult when I took him in from the woods where he was wandering, hungry (and, I'm fairly certain, dumped off by his previous human). If I weren't taking care of them at all, they would still have been born, and might even be dead before now of various dangers.
