Death is hard to accept. I'll admit, the prospect terrifies me. It's not so much the end of existence as having to wonder when it'll happen and how much pain will be involved. Because that's your last conscious feeling if you die in agony, and there aren't many of us who get to die in our sleep. It seems like a colossal fucking joke, if you ask me (and, it's one reason I'm agnostic - I have a really hard time accepting there's a god who wants us all to fall down in worship, yet would let us go through that much pain and fear, and would sponsor any religion that encourages fear and hatred of so many other things during a lifetime. But I'm going from preaching to meddling).

But yeah - death in our culture isn't always handled terribly well. Then again, nobody wants to say goodbye to someone they love or like, never to see them again. But keeping them around is selfish, and I don't know that it's the best thing for the person.
