But the fact is, he's a person and people get depressed, angry, resentful, frustrated, and selfish once in a while, at least. And I sort of like him better for it.

And this is at least part (quite possibly a big part) of why we're Will fans and others, aren't. I remember reading a comment before AWE was released that suggested a certain ending was happy for everyone, because J/E would have each other and Will would have daddy and be content in the knowledge that Elizabeth was happy. I've read comment since that Will has it pretty good, he 'got' Elizabeth and his father, so what the hell is he complaining about?

I guess it makes sense, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't care about a character who could care less that he wouldn't get to see the love of his life for 10 years, and then only for 1 day. Who is unconcerned about being forcibly absent from his son's life, while constantly reminded of his own fatherless childhood by the constant presence of said wayward poppa. Who would never brood, even in his worst moments, over the fact that he gets to spend all his time ferrying and helping souls move on, something forever denied him by a man who seemingly hated him.
