I find their low opinion of Jack a bit surprising.
Why, because we all love him so much? *G* From Will's POV, Jack's the one who tricked him onto the Dutchman, then tried to steal his fiancee, and finally, his actions put Will in the captaincy. I'm sure even selfless, noble Will has his rare days that he would rather be dead than doomed to do this forever, rarely seeing Elizabeth, forever having to wonder if she's off doing something with Jack or somebody else.
I was just thinking about that last night, that finding a way to break the curse would make a good story.
