I don't think I'm completely over Elizabeth's behavior in DMC, but AWE did go a longer way toward making me forgive her than I thought possible. I've been excessively hard on the woman (for good reason) for 10 months and it's just nice to lay off now that she's acting like a grown-up, more.

I think fic can work around what we were given in canon. In fact, if I didn't know better, I'd say AWE was written specifically with fanficcers in mind - even those who died haven't crossed over yet, and look who's in charge of their destinies!
